On this 2021 #InternationalWomensDay we #ChooseToChallenge the current status quo... where too many women are still putting themselves and their health last!
With so many competing demands on our time, when it comes to health, many women are awesome at caring for others but often put themselves last.
So this International Women's Day we are 'Choosing to Challenge' women to make time to better care for their health, and lose the Matyr syndrome passed on from previous generations.
Here are 5 simple challenges we recommend this IWD:
Health Checks: Make an appointment with your GP for a health check and ensure you are up to date with any preventive screenings, such as cervical cancer and breast checks. Check our Women's Health section for more info.
Health Issues: If you have any health issues that you've been ignoring or silently suffering (eg. menopause symptoms, unexplained pelvic or period pain etc), make an appointment and get it sorted! Click here to make an appointment
Get Active: Spend at least 30 minutes a day doing moderate activity (eg. walking - preferably outdoors)
Nutrition: Include more fresh fruit & veges. Swap unhealthy snacks for healthier options
Emotional wellbeing: Make time to do something that makes you feel good... it really is important!
By investing in ourselves, we’ll not only be happier and healthier, but we'll be better partners, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, employees, bosses, team mates etc etc... and better able to look after those we care about!
